Gokyo Valley & Everest Base Camp Trekking is a blend of scenic and beautiful areas of high Khumbu valleys. In the close shade of Mt. Everest and Himalayan peaks, a scenic walk from start to the end of an adventure.
Enjoy the lovely walks amidst towering peaks that follow throughout the trip to Gokyo Valley and Everest base camp. The first phase of adventure takes you to picturesque Gokyo valley and its emerald-colored glacial lakes.
Walk follows the Dudh Koshi River right up to its source at Gokyo and Ngozumpa glacier. Which stretches to 36 k.m. or 22 miles, making the country’s longest glacier as well around the Himalayas range.
The massive ice flow runs from Mt. Cho-Oyu and other high peaks that drains at Dudh Koshi River. Gokyo Valley & Everest Base Camp Trekking, an adventure walking on the main busy and scenic trail of the high Khumbu region. Leads through several interesting Sherpa villages festooned with age-old cultures, which you can notice on walks.
As treks progress following the Dudh Koshi River for a few days, then heading high up to the famed Namche Bazaar. The capital of Khumbu Sherpa, and the right place for travelers to spend an extra day for acclimatization.
At Namche explore the high ridges for a sweeping panorama of an array of snow peaks with a glimpse of Mt. Everest. From Namche Bazaar onward our route diverts towards high Gokyo valley, on leaving the main trails of Everest base camp.
Climb higher following the rushing Dudh Koshi River upstream, as the route leads through a gorge covered in nice woods. As the walk continues higher spend nights at Dole and Machhermo, then slowly enter the scenic valley and lakes of Gokyo.
An exciting, spectacular spot hidden by giant surrounding peaks with grand views of Mt. Cho-Oyu, the world's 6th highest. While at Gokyo Lake enjoy the beautiful scenery and climb to high Gokyo-Ri for stunning views of the world’s four tallest peaks.
Catch glorious close looks of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, and Mt. Makalu with a series of peaks. Includes view of beautiful Gokyo valley and Nepal’s longest Ngozumpa glacier, adventure continues after a wonderful time around Gokyo valley. An exciting and long day of the journey, a steep climb to cross over high Cho-La Pass.
The Cho-La, originally pronounced as Tsho-La, forms the boundary between the west and east Khumbu area.
After a strenuous haul to the pass of Cho-La, take a rest and enjoy the dramatic surrounding views of peaks. The top is close beneath giant Cholatse peaks with arrays of mountains facing Nirekha and Lobuche peaks.
From the pass a long descent reaching the main trail of Everest base camp to Lobuche, and at Gorakshep. Spending nights at Dzongla on the foot of Cho-La pass as walk follows to Lobuche and then at Gorakshep. Where adventure leads on a high trail above Khumbu Glaciers walking on a rocky path to Everest base camp.
On reaching base camp, marvel at the dramatic scenery of remorseless fields covered in ice, snow, and glaciers. Within a mere distance from massif Khumbu Ice-Fall, that tumbles down in between Lhotse, Nuptse, and Everest.
Having a tremendous experience at Everest base camp, the adventure continues with a climb to the highest point of the trek.
On top of Kalapathar rocky hill, an exciting spot for the closest views of Mt. Everest and Mt. Pumori. Encircled by giant surrounding peaks, after achieving our goals and main highlights, then head for the return journey to Lukla.
Walk follows down to Pheriche valley and its lovely settlement, then reaching Pangboche village with a majestic view of Ama Dablam. Downhill continues with a climb to beautiful Tengboche and the monastery, situated amid forest surroundings. One of the most scenic places for short trekking, where one can enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama of the Everest range.
Worth a tour of the famous impressive monastery at Tengboche enriched with ancient relics and tall statues of Lord Buddha. Start the walk to end the wonderful
adventure heading down to Namche and finally reaching Lukla for the last overnight. The next morning a panoramic flight brings you back to Kathmandu.

Things to know on Gokyo Valley & Everest Base Camp Trekking:
Mt. Everest at present in last few years is officially a little higher than before. The new agreed height of Mt. Everest is 8,848.86 meters / 29,031.69 feet, which was announced at a virtual ceremony by both countries Nepal and China.
Outline Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: From Kathmandu fly to Lukla 2, 820 m, trek to Phakding 2,645 m- 04 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m / 11, 350 feet - 06 hrs.
Day 04: At Namche for acclimatization and a short scenic hike.
Day 05: Trek to Dole 4,110 m-06 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Machhermo 4, 465 m-04 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Gokyo main 3rd Lakes 4,800 m-04 hrs.
Day 08: At Gokyo for rest day and hike to Gokyo-Ri.
Day 09: Trek to Thagnak- 4,760 m - 04 hrs.
Day 10: Cross Cho-La pass 5,420 m trek to Dzongla 4,750 m-08 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Lobuche 4,960 m - 05 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Everest Base Camp 5,364 m and return to Gorakshep for overnight at 5,180 m-07 hours walk both ways.
Day 13: Climb Kalapathar 5,643 m / 18,514 ft. and trek to Pheriche for overnight at 4, 260 m- 06 hours walks.
Day 14: Trek to Tengboche 3,867 m - 05 hrs.
Day 15: Trek to Monjo 2, 800 m-06 hours.
Day 16: Trek to Lukla-04 hrs.
Day 17: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu with afternoon free at leisure.
Day 18: At Kathmandu free day at leisure.
Day 19: Depart for International Departure.
Note:
The flight to Lukla and back to Kathmandu, where flight can be delayed or might get postponed for next morning. Due to unfavorable weather conditions around mountainous region of Himalayas, can happen sometimes even in best time of the season. Best Seasons:
Gokyo Valley & Everest Base Camp Trekking the best seasons are in spring and autumn/fall, where days are crystal clear for views and pleasant walks.
The spring times begin from March till May, the high seasons for Everest Panorama Trekking and around the Himalayas.
Most days are clear fine and bright with sunshine, which can get overcast in the late afternoon. Chances of snowfall sometimes on higher terrain, cold in the morning late afternoon, and nighttime. The mid-hills are lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendron of various species from trees to a bush.
The next best time is in autumn/fall, one of the peak seasons. For trekking around the Himalayas and to Gokyo Valley & Everest Base Camp Trekking, most days are crystal clear for views and scenic walks. However, the days are shorter due to fewer sun-light hours, much colder morning and late afternoon till night time.
Chances of snowfall sometimes during the walk around higher areas above 3,000 m high, but with a bright starry night sky.
Religion, Culture of Everest, and high Khumbu:
The Sherpa of Everest around high Khumbu follows Tibetan Buddhism known as Mahayana or Greater Wheel. Established by great Guru Rinpoche Padamasamba in the 7th Century, reforming Buddhism which was near to extinct.
The culture, tradition, and heritage are similar to its Tibetan predecessors, the Sherpa migrated from the Eastern part of Tibet. More than 500 years of history, and the word Sherpa means Sher for East and Pa for people.
Interesting villages of Sherpa to explore and to observe the immense impressive cultures of age-old heritage. The name for Everest in the native Sherpa language is Chomolungma of Tibetan origin, which Nepali calls Sagarmatha.
In both languages means a ‘Great Mother’, and most villages are adorned with religious flags and monuments of prayer walls.
Every village houses impressive monasteries and shrines, which you will have time to explore and observe.
Sherpa celebrates New Year called Losar, which falls at the end of February or the beginning of March. According to the Tibetan Buddhist Lunar calendar, based on animals and birds, the year 2022 is a year of a Tiger.
The other main festival celebrated around high Khumbu is Mani-Rimdu, which takes place en route to Everest base camp. At Tengboche monastery, the event takes place at end of October or the first week of November.
