LANGTANG VALLEY TREKKING
‘short and delightful adventure in the land of Red Pandas and snow leopard’
Langtang Valley Trekking, is a delightful short adventure north of Kathmandu valley rim, the closest Himalayan range from the capital. Just 32 k.m. away as the crow fly or aeronautical distance, but takes more than five hours of drives.
An exciting country of a week in the close harmony of pristine surroundings of giant snow peaks, and rolling hills. The charm and beauty of Langtang Valley Trekking are walking into the serene nature of dense green woods.
Covered in rhododendron, magnolia, pines, and fir trees which soon gives away for short alpine bushes, on reaching higher elevation.
The other interesting part of the walk, besides its glorious views of a high snow mountain range, is the local culture. Where walk follows through nice traditional villages adorned with Buddhist prayer flags and monuments, which make the trek more enjoyable.
One of the best parts of the Langtang Valley Trekking is the slow gain in altitude making the walk easier. Without difficulty of getting high altitude sickness which is common on higher terrain of Himalaya range.
The highest elevation for an overnight stop is 3,749 m / 12,371 feet high in Kyanjin. Situated in the heart of Langtang Valley enclosed by an array of towering snow peaks and high rocky ridges.
Langtang Valley Trekking starting and ending points is Syabrubesi villages located on route to Nepal and Tibet border. As well as other various adventure destinations around Langtang, Ganesh Himal region and beyond to the exotic valley of Langtang.
On reaching Syabrubesi village, after an interesting drive from Kathmandu, a walk follows towards the higher country and enters a river gorge. The gorge of Langtang River is enclosed by dense forest and bamboo stalks, as the route enters an open wide Langtang valley.
At Kyanjin is a lovely moderate settlement with many good lodges, facing grand views of the Langtang Himal range. With time at Kyanjin for a hike to Tserko-Ri or Kyanjin-Ri, the highest point of the adventure above 4,000 m.
Provides an excellent panorama of the surrounding snow-capped mountain range, after a wonderful time at Langtang valley and Kyanjin. Return journey on the same exciting route to Syabrubesi village for a drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,470 m via Dhunche town 1,950 - 06 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel 2,350 m - 06 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Langtang village 3,310 m - 05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,749 m - 04 hrs.
Day 07: Rest-Day for acclimatization and hike to view points.
Day 08: Trek to Lama Hotel - 06 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Syabrubesi - 06 hrs.
Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels -06 hrs.

Best Seasons:
Langtang Valley Trekking, for all seasons of the year-round, except the monsoon wet times. The best seasons are in spring and autumn/fall, where days are crystal clear for views and pleasant walks.
The springtime’s begins from March till May, the high seasons for trekking around Nepal Himalayas and to Langtang Valley.
Most days are clear fine and bright with sunshine, which can get overcast in the late afternoon. Chances of snowfall sometimes on higher terrain, cold in the morning late afternoon, and nighttime. The mid-hills are lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendron of various species from trees to short bush.
The next best time is in autumn/fall, one of the peak seasons. For trekking around the Himalayas and Langtang Himal, most days are crystal clear for views and scenic walks. However, the days are shorter due to fewer sun-light hours, much colder morning and late afternoon till night time.
Chances of snowfall sometimes during the walk around higher areas above 2,000 m high, but with a clear starry night sky.
Religion, Culture of Langtang Himal region:
Tamang are the main inhabitants of the Central and Langtang Himalaya range as far as to Ganesh and Jugal Himal areas. Around Langtang Valley trek. Populated by the indigenous Tamang tribes, follows Tibetan Buddhism known as Mahayana or Greater Wheel. Established by great Guru Rinpoche Padamasamba in the 7th Century, reforming Buddhism which was near to extinct.
The culture, tradition, and heritage are similar to its Tibetan predecessors, the Tamang are farmers and raise livestock. As well famous craftsman and artist painting Thangka the religious arts of Buddhism religions.
Interesting Tamang villages on this trek are Dhunche town, Syabrubesi and Langtang village, other places are temporary settlements from Syabrubesi and Langtang villages.
